Verse:
We’re G mostly empty nesters whose kids have left home
and we C just want to sing a song

The G clock’s ticking fast no time to learn the harpsichord
but D ukes don’t take too long

You G hear us from afar singing songs from the Sixties
a C little bit of Country and Folk

We G have lots of fun and a few people like us
But the D real musos think we’re a G joke
Chorus:
We get C laughed at ostracised sneered at and pitied
G scorned and derided daily

G We are the lepers of the music world
for we D play the uku G lele
Verse:
G‘Join in all welcome’ says the Facebook page
for the C Music festival
G‘Bring along your instruments for jamming around the campfire’
It D all sounds really cool

We G get there at sunset and bring out our ukes
C Stares from the guitar-playing boys
G Even the Banjo-players mutter to each other
‘They’ve D brought those fucken ukulele G toys’

G Uke in my backpack travelling around Spain
C feeling like some company

The G sign says ‘Irish Pub and Sangria’
well that D sounds OK to me

A G Casio keyboard and some bongo drums

I pull out my uke and they shake their heads

My G uke band and I went to a Bluegrass Club
in a C bowling club Tuesday night

There were G banjos guitars and mandolins
but D not a uke in sight

We G pulled out our ukes and the atmosphere got frosty –
C they were all looking at me

(So I said) G ‘These are special Bluegrass mini-guitars
that we D (stop) bought in Nashville Tennessee’
Chorus:
We get C laughed at ostracised sneered at and pitied
G scorned and derided daily

A G few dozen pilgrims all sitting around

We G sing and do the conga all night long
Sometimes it’s D good to play the mini- G guitar
